I did not know what to expect from this story but I thoroughly enjoyed it! I liked how the story started out with two strong female characters but with the male characters being from a tribe that was rumored to steal brides I was not so sure I was going to like it. I am glad that there was more to the rumor, that the Pruxnae actually wooed their conquests and obtained their permission before taking them to their home planet.I loved that Gared appreciated Alna for more than just her sexuality and that he went through so much to prove to her that he valued her. This was such a sweet, romantic, and entertaining read! I highly, highly recommend!!

The author was great and she put a lot of feelings to the story. Loved the chemistry of the characters; they are full of passion, humor, twisting plot and so much more. I have truly enjoyed this book and keep them coming.
It's not often I enjoy a story so much that I don't know what to say... Who could resist being seduced by Gared? Not me, that's for sure!
She's going to be a Queens guard tomorrow, he's got his eye on her for his wife. She wants to do her duty, he wants to love her so he kidnaps her and well u have to read the book to find out
Full of surprises as the first book in a series it develops a new society, where the male population has taken to kidnapping brides from other worlds. This necessitated by the lack of successful female births on their home planet. Needless to say the complications which can develop from such activity lead into an entertaining story.
Found the story very sweet and a bit wicked. The kidnap of brides is not an unusual idea but in the future a whole world believes them must do it to survive. I greatly enjoyed the story and hope that as the series continues so does the enjoyment of reading the series. Very good read!!!
Although I liked the Choosing more I enjoyed this book as well the main characters were well thought out and the book itself was written well. I will defiantly look out for more of her books in this series in the future.
This is a great standalone sci-fi series opener. It features Alana Lomig, a Lady Warrior and new appointee to the Queen's Guard. She meets Gared ab Einuf on the eve of her first day of service. He's a Pruxnae, a race that captures and kidnaps prospective mates. But he is handsome and charming. And he asks for one dance and promises not to kidnap her before their first kiss. She agrees to his terms and wakes up the next day in a small biosphere in the jungle of her home world, where her captor is the least of her worries.
